Understanding Federal & State Heat Pump Incentives in Wisconsin
Many homeowners ask about heat pump incentives available through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). These programs are designed to help reduce the cost of high-efficiency heat pump systems, more accessible and affordable for homeowners.
In Wisconsin, IRA incentives are administered through state programs, including Focus on Energy and associated state agencies. Approval timelines, funding levels, and eligibility are determined by the state — not by Grant Park Heating & Cooling.
How the Incentive Process Works
IRA incentives are reviewed individually.
Incentive amounts may depend on:
-
Household income tier
-
Prior energy upgrades (electrical panels, insulation, appliances, etc.)
-
Whether other contractors have already submitted incentive claims
-
Remaining funding availability at the state level
Because incentives are capped per household, the final amount available can only be confirmed after the state completes its review.
What We Can — and Can’t — Do
At Grant Park Heating & Cooling, we: CAN
-
Design and install high-efficiency heat pump and dual-fuel systems
-
Help homeowners understand how the incentive process works
-
Coordinate with state programs once eligibility is confirmed
-
Professional installation with full cleanup— You should never have to clean after us
We cannot:
-
Expedite state or federal approvals
-
Begin installation before required approvals are issued
This process can take time. We appreciate your patience while state and federal agencies complete their required steps

Already Applied or Referred?
If you’ve already submitted information through Focus on Energy or were referred through a state or partner program, your application may still be in processing.
It is normal for:
-
Your name not to appear immediately in state systems
-
There to be a delay before contractors are authorized to proceed
-
State agencies to be unable to provide real-time updates
Applications move through a structured validation and approval process determined by the administering agency. Once authorization is issued, we are notified and can move forward with your project.

We Know waiting isn’t the exciting part- but you’ve already completed the most important step by applying. As soon as the state gives the GREEN light we’ll take it from there
Important Notes About Our Approach
Heat pumps are not a one-size-fits-all product. Proper design, system compatibility, and education matter — especially when incentives are involved.

HOMES & HEAR are two different IRA REBATES
HOMES and HEAR are two different IRA rebate pathways through Focus on Energy. Each program has its own application process, and homeowners must apply separately for each. If both programs apply to your home, both applications are required.
For help with forms or next steps, homeowners can contact Focus on Energy directly for assistance with the application process.

If you’re looking to include home insulation or air sealing as part of the IRA Home Energy Program, we recommend working with Green Homeowners United. They are an independent organization that helps homeowners navigate insulation, air sealing, and program requirements. You can learn more or begin that process directly through their website below.
